OVERVIEW

  • Systematic Review Conclusion:

Full-mouth scaling and root planing (FMSRP) in combination with amoxicillin (AMX)/metronidazole (MET) (FMSRP + AMX/MET) therapy is more effective in treating generalized aggressive periodontitis (GAgP) than is FMSRP alone.

  • Critical Summary Assessment:

The results of a meta-analysis of six randomized clinical trials (RCTs) of high quality support the use of AMX/MET therapy to increase the effectiveness of FMSRP in treating GAgP.

  • Evidence Quality Rating:

    Good
